Solvent 410

Aliphatic solvents are hydrocarbons with a chain of 5 to 8 carbons and are a fraction of crude oil. Solvent 410 is a colorless and chemically stable substance with a boiling point of solvent 410 (between 60 and 165 degrees Celsius).
This substance is not corrosive to metals and evaporates very quickly. Aliphatic solvents always carry some aromatic hydrocarbons with them.
The percentage of sulfur in these solvents should be less than 50% by weight, otherwise major problems will arise in anti-corrosion coatings. Hexane and heptane are the most famous aliphatic solvents in the paint industry.
The percentage of aromatic compounds in this solvent is up to 26%. The higher the percentage of aromatic substances, the greater its solubility.
Aliphatic solvents Aw 409 and Aw 410 of Iranian Oil Company have the highest percentage of aromatic compounds. The special solvent of SBP Oil Company with at least 75% aromatic compounds can be placed in the group of cyclic hydrocarbons (aromatics).

Usages

The most important uses of Solvent 410 include the following:
1. Degreasing solvent for metal surfaces
2. Used as a thinner in paint and in industry for degreasing and cleaning metal surfaces.
3. Dry cleaning solvent
4. Solvent in fabric printing
5. Solvent in paint and varnish thinners
6. Widely used as a solvent for furniture waxes, home furnishings, floor coverings, and shoe polish
7. Solvent 410 is especially used to remove total acid gas in gas purification. This solvent is effective in sweet and non-sweet gas streams.
8. Household uses of Solvent 410 include cleaning paint brushes, removing adhesive residue from non-porous surfaces, cleaning car parts, and igniting charcoal for barbecues, among other common uses.

Storage conditions

■Drums should be stacked to a maximum height of 3 meters.
■Storage tanks should be specifically designed for storage in metal drums and tanks.
■Keep away from heat and other sources of ignition, Solvent 410 vapors are heavier than air so be careful.
■Accumulation in pits in confined spaces will build up electrostatic charges over time. Electrostatic discharge pumping may cause fire. Ensure electrical continuity by bonding and grounding all equipment to reduce the risk.

Safety precautions when working with Solvent 410

■ Inhalation of Solvent 410 mist or vapor will cause irritation of the nose or throat. Move the affected person to fresh air. Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.
■ Skin contact: Immediately wash the skin with soap and water if Solvent 410 comes into contact with the skin.
The affected area should be immediately immersed in cold water or rinsed in cold water for 15 minutes.
If the pain persists for a longer period of time, the burns should be covered with clean cotton or gauze and go to the hospital as soon as possible for examination and treatment. If redness, swelling, pain or blistering occurs, refer to the nearest medical facility for additional treatment.
■ Eye contact: Rinse the eye thoroughly with plenty of water, making sure to keep the eyelids open. If redness, burning, blurred vision or swelling persists, take the injured person to the nearest medical facility.
■ Ingestion: If mouth contamination occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Swallowing or large amounts of product is unlikely, except as a deliberate act.

  • Relatively safe: Solvent 410 is less hazardous and has a lower flammability risk than many other industrial solvents.
  • Colorless and mild odor: This feature makes it less likely to cause an unpleasant odor in industrial environments.
